About

Brooklyn Friends Interns is an internship program to connect students with members of the BFS community to facilitate out-of-classroom learning.

High school internships are far too often only accessible through family connections. While searching for a summer internship at the end of 10th grade, I found that I didn’t have any personal connections to the fields that I was interested in exploring. When I reached out to Natania Kremer, the head of service learning, she pointed me to the list of Community Partners compiled by the Service Learning office. I was lucky that my subject of interest was one that Brooklyn Friends School could assist me in pursuing. However, I later realized that there wasn’t an already established support system for students interested in other subjects which inspired me to create BFS Interns.

BFS Interns strives to reduce the disparity in opportunities available to students by providing them with a database of internships curated from resources in NYC and from the BFS parents. In addition, the parents in the community can access student profiles to have the possibility of offering internships that are more tailored to their interests.
